Using the Relocity web-based application you can speak directly to the Transferee from within the Work Order itself! You can see the chat history and communicate with the client via the Conversation Tab. This page will display any existing conversation history and you can send messages here or within the mobile application.
You can also choose to allow notifications on your preferred browser and this will allow you to see toast notifications within Relocity itself as well as web-push notifications to your operations system. This guide walks through some suggestions and caveats that you should keep in mind for this new feature.
Before we talk about our suggestions, here are some CAVEATS to be aware of:
In order to receive notifications, you need to have viewed the Conversation tab on the Work Order level. If you haven’t viewed the conversation, even if all of your notification settings are ON, you will not see receive notifications on your desktop or laptop from new messages (but the messages will be stored).
We will only display the last 30 messages total between you and the Transferee. The entire conversation will be visible within the mobile application.
This enhancement is best used in a desktop computer or laptop.
You can only communicate with the customer using this feature if the Work Order is Open/Current. If the Work Order is closed you can see the last 30 messages, but you can’t send any new messages.
Suggestions
The Relocity Support Team advises that you use Chrome or Firefox for your primary browser to take full advantage of this feature. This is because both Chrome and Firefox provide optimized settings for browser notifications.
This is a reminder that you can still use Safari, Chrome, or any other browser to perform your day-to-day tasks (you can also respond to the customer through the conversation tab) but if you want to receive notifications on new messages we do recommend using Chrome or Firefox.
Am I not able to use Safari?
At this current time, Safari’s browser preferences do not allow Relocity to create “Relocity specific” notifications. Safari itself has its own set of program notifications and prompts, however they do not allow third parties (i.e. Relocity) to enable notifications.
You can always utilize Safari in order to perform your Relocity duties (as you normally would) but you will not see notifications within your browser.
Another option is that you can leave a Chrome or Firefox browser open to Relocity (but minimized) on your computer. On Apple devices when new notifications come through, your Apple System notifications will display the notification along with your widgets.
Will chat notifications still come through to my mobile device?
Yes!
Even if you enable notifications, if you have your phone notifications turned ON for Relocity then you will receive notifications to your mobile device (Android and iOS).
